ok tried to reply to a message i got and all it did was show the purple spinny thing and nothing happened. tried to compose new and same thing. even tried to reply to an older message and nothing. could this be related to the quest thing? could this be my computer?

Actually, I think it's related to the quest problem. It's trying to see who of your Facebook contacts is a player of the game and auto-add them to your PBN contact list. Since it's failing whenever it tries to access FB, it'll fail there too.
