Entering combat- something's not passing correctly

Postby dician » Tue Feb 21, 2012 3:55 pm

I'm on the Pleasantville Streets (directly below Central Square) The only creature in sight is a Vigilante; when I go to fight him, the combat screen comes up blank and tells me I am victorious with no other text.

Upon further investigation, the same thing happened in the shopping center with a drunk. I headed to the streets north of the shopping center and got into a fight with a hunter nerd and an imp (after clicking the confirmation text on the "tough fight" popup), but afterwards couldn't fight the vigilante that was left.

edit: The streets north of the university worked almost correctly, but I fought a possessed nerd when I clicked on an imp. Heading east, the problem started happening again. I even got an imp to join in on my side and still went to the autovictory (no enemies showed up)

edit edit: I can get into combat when there're a bunch of critters in one area, but I don't end up fighting the critter I click on. This leads me to believe that there's some kind of modification happening to the id # of the critter in the fight link (or however you pass id information from street to combat).

I can confirm that - but not limited to e/W.

Yeah an earlier fix I made ended up breaking something else. I hoped I had caught it quick enough that nobody noticed, but apparently not. :)
It's fixed now though, sorry!

Nope....

Now I had a fight against two alligators, with me being joined by a rat.
The fight ended with all four still being alive :(

I don't understand. What's the problem? The alligators and rats are in a maze, and you can't start battles in mazes.
Unless you weren't in the sewer when it happened?

This isn't actually true. You can't start battles in mazes, except where there's also a link to go somewhere (possibly only the "end of the maze"). e.g. I currently have the choices:
- Head for Throne Room
- Attack Vampire Bat
- Attack Mummy
- Attack "Crazy" Vampire
- Attack Vampire Bat
- Attack Ugly Vampire

Just for fun, I attacked a Vampire Bat. The "Crazy" Vampire helped it out, and the Mummy joined in on my side.

Oh, good point, forgot about those. That should work pretty much the same as a battle on the streets, though.
